One local business and two from the area are formally being honored by the state of Kansas.
Emporia's Radius Brewing Company and owners Justin Bays, Jeremy Johns and Chad Swift are being honored by the Kansas Small Business Development Center as one of the top Existing Businesses of the Year. Radius has been in business now for nearly four years, and Bays says internal communication and consistency with both food and drink have been pivotal to the brewery's success. He tells KVOE News his crew is looking ahead to meet the ongoing increase in traffic.
Radius is among eight businesses statewide to get that honor, including the Wabaunsee County Signal-Enterprise located in Alma and owned by Lori Daniel.
Meanwhile, Bella Rose Boutique and Tanning Salon of Burlington has been noted as an Emerging Business of the Year. Bella Rose joins six other new businesses for that honor. The business is owned by Lindsey Beyer.
Each of the eight Kansas Small Business Development Centers picked one emerging and one existing business of the year for this award cycle. Two exporting businesses were also chosen.
Award winners will be honored at a special banquet March 13 in Topeka.
