Beacon for Hope is set to launch it’s third annual Hope Links Us Together Suicide Prevention Walk this weekend.
The idea behind this event is to spread awareness for the available resources for those who struggle with mental health issues, including suicide, and to raise funds to continue to support these efforts. Beacon for Hope founder Melissa Kurtenbach goes over some planned activities for the walk.
The mission for Beacon for Hope is to link the community together through education, resources, support, and hope. Kurtenbach says the reach in the community provides for an effective support network.
Registration for the Hope Links Us Together Suicide Prevention Walk begins this Saturday at 10:00 am at the Clint Bowyer Community Building. The Walk itself will start at noon with the activities available until 2:00 pm. For more information, click here.
If you or someone you know is going through a suicidal crisis, please call the 24 hour National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. They offer free and confidential emotional support as well as referrals to available crisis resources. For information on local resources, visit hopelinks.org.
