After visiting the polls Tuesday, local residents stopped by the Lyon County Fairgrounds to warm their hearts with delicious homemade soups.
Soup-A-Palooza took place at the Anderson Building and featured a great selection of soups with ingredients provided by local producers. Proceeds from the event benefit the Emporia Farmer’s Market General Budget.
Farmer’s Market Director Jessica Hopkins says those funds allow the Market to continue their operations as the largest direct to consumer sales outlet for local producers within a four county region.
The Farmer’s Market kicked off their indoor market season at Water’s True Value this past weekend. With markets taking place now every first and third Saturday through April, Hopkins explained what patrons can look forward to this season.
Totals from Soup-a-Palooza will be announced later this week. For photos visit this story at KVOE.com.
