A special blood drive is taking place on the Emporia State University campus Wednesday.
The Kenzie Payne Memorial Blood Drive will collect blood from 10:45 am to 4:15 pm. Activities will be in the Memorial Union Skyline Room.
Wednesday’s event serves two purposes. It collects blood for the American Red Cross at a time when there is an emergency need for blood, both locally and nationwide. It also honors Payne’s memory after the Emporia High graduate and University of Kansas medical student was stabbed to death in Wichita in late June.
Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. To set up an appointment, go online to www.redcrossblood.org or call 800-RED-CROSS.
