Aug. 7: 4-H Bucket Calf Show

The Bucket Calves wrapped up 4-H activities Monday night. Bucket calves have had less than a year to be worked with, and many of the Champions and Reserve Champions will make an appearance in the pen again next year.

Rowdy Orear, of Chamness, took Grand Champion in the 11-12 year old class with his calf Stitch. He worked with Stitch daily to achieve a level of trust which carried into the show pen.
Jenna Smith of Happy Harvesters earned Reserve Grand Champion.

In the 9-10 year old class, Lilly Skalsky, of Busy Beavers, and her calf Oreo claimed the Grand Champion trophy. She plans to bring Oreo back after working for another year following the same routine.
Reserve Grand Champion was bestowed upon Kaleb Arnold of Chamness.

Lauryn Finnerty of Busy Beavers was named Grand Champion in the 7-8 year old class. Her calf's name is Suckle. This was Lauryn's first year showing a bucket calf. She talks about her routine with Suckle.
Myah Arndt of Model Boosters earned Reserve Grand Champion.
