From September 12th, 2012 show
By Linda Cookson
You see before you all I found
a shred of freedom –
on the ground.
Once proud and true
Old Glory stood
for me and you.
It didn’t run, nor did it hide
on field of battle
far and wide.
It stood its’ ground or led the charge
in scrimmage small
or battle large.
Its’ final act, a show of power
to honor a hero
in his final hour.
That soldier to heaven did ascend
and the mower
this flags life did end.
You see before you, what I’ll treasure
symbol of freedom
pride beyond measure.
