A community development block grant for sewer improvements will be considered during Wednesday's Emporia City Commission meeting.
The city has been selected to receive $700,000 for the repair of approximately 15,700 linear feet of downtown sanitary sewer lines. As part of the project the city also will provide matching funds through a loan from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The project is expected to take about six to nine months to construct.
The city commission also plans to award a bid totaling more than $67,000 to Emporia Construction & Remodeling, Inc. for the 2018 Hazardous Sidewalk Program. Bids for new city vehicles and equipment will be considered along with renewed lease agreements with the Emporia Recreation Commission for recreation fields and the Jones Aquatic Center. Three executive sessions are also planned.
Wednesday's meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. in the municipal courtroom.
