Deliveries have been made, and the KVOE-Kari's Family Christmas for Families in Need turned $5,000 in donations into gifts for 60 area individuals Tuesday.
KVOE made stops at Big Brothers Big Sisters, Emporia Child Care, SOS and the Salvation Army for the kids and adults requesting gifts. Child Care Director Deb Crowl says the requests weren't extravagant.
SOS Community Relations Director Susan Faler says there are several reasons why people need help from SOS during the holidays.
Salvation Army Lt. Lynn Lopez was beaming afterward.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Director Andrea Landgren says the project will have an impact.
The money was raised as residents gave donations for the chance to win a 14-karat diamond fashion ring or a set including a 14-karat diamond pendant with matching earrings through Kari's Diamonds and Bridal. Terry Turner won the ring, with Tara Trear winning the pendant and earrings.
