Attorney General's Office coming to Emporia for document shredding event

Representatives of the Kansas Attorney General's Office will be in Emporia on Wednesday.

The reason is a free personal document destruction event as part of National Consumer Protection Week. Staffers will accept personal documents from 4 to 6 pm at the Bowyer Community Building. There is a maximum of three bags or boxes per consumer. Shredding will be done onsite.

Attorney General Derek Schmidt says the secure shredding of personal documents is important in preventing identity theft, an increasing fraud problem both nationwide and worldwide.
