A review of the USD 253 Emergency Operations Plan will be discussed during Wednesday's monthly Emporia School Board meeting.
The school board will review previous work completed, highlighting best practices in school safety from 2011 to 2015, plans for different emergencies including gas leaks, activity trip guidelines, intruder drills and tornado safety. The board also will review first semester safety work through training efforts and discuss next steps needed. Some of those next steps could include strengthening reunification plans, training, possible infrastructure upgrades for security purposes and continued focus on Social Emotional Learning.
The board also plans to take action on two considerations including a bid for a partial roof replacement at Village Elementary School and the purchase of two new school buses.
One executive session is also planned for superintendent evaluation purposes. The Emporia School Board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary Herbert Education Center.
