CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness has a new leader.

Amanda Cunningham, the agency's chief operating officer, is now the interim CEO after Rob Runquist recently resigned.

Cunningham has been with CrossWinds for 17 years, when the agency was known as the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas. She says she will concentrate on finding efficiencies while reaching out to different community partners, including school districts and Lyon County Community Corrections, to see what additional services can be provided to meet the mental health needs of Lyon and surrounding counties.

Runquist had served as CEO since 2015 after the departure of longtime prior leader Bill Persinger. He had been part of the agency's executive management team since 2014.

A timetable for finding a permanent leader has not been discussed, according to Cunningham. She says she would like to be considered as the permanent CEO once the CrossWinds board moves towards that decision.

KVOE News is reaching out to Runquist for comment this morning.
