Historical Society continues work on new home

The Lyon County Historical Society continues its preparations before it ultimately consolidates its current locations into one space at 709 Commercial.

On a recent Newsmaker segment, public event coordinator Nancy Boyce said "things are progressing." She says fundraising continues, with a main focus improving utilities inside the building.

Materials also have to be inventoried and properly packaged for moving, so volunteers are needed as those activities continue.

The Historical Society currently operates the county museum at 118 East Sixth and the Research Center and Archives at 225 East Sixth. Those facilities will move to Commercial Street. The Historical Society also operates the Historic Howe Farmstead at 315 East Logan.

The Historical Society is also preparing for its annual meeting Feb. 11 at the new Historical Society Building. For information, call 340-6310 or go online to www.lyoncountyhistoricalsociety.org.
