Jeff Freeman announced Tuesday that he has filed as a candidate for the 76th District House in the upcoming election. Freeman tells KVOE News he received encouragement to run again.
Freeman originally announced he was running last October, but withdrew after Mast decided to run for re-election. Mast says Freeman has always been pleasant about it.
Freeman served in the House from 1984 to 1991, and is a retired lobbyist for the National Rifle Association.
The Republican primary winner is set to face Democrat Teresa Briggs, who decided to run for the 76th District earlier this year. No other Democrats have currently filed for the seat.
The primary election is Aug. 5, with the general election Nov. 4.
