Critical fire danger is in place for Thursday.
A combination of dry vegetation, warm temperatures, gusty southwest winds and low humidity levels have prompted the National Weather Service offices in Topeka and Wichita to issue red flag warnings for our area.
Lyon and all surrounding counties are impacted from 1 to 7 pm.
The fire danger won't be as extreme the next few days as temperatures cool and wind speeds aren't expected to be as high, but burning is not recommended until we receive significant moisture.
