The Kansas Department of Revenue is now offering a special designation for veterans on their driver's licenses.
The word "VETERAN" will appear in red capital letters beneath the license holder's photo. There is no extra fee for this designation if a person is applying for a new driver's license, or renewing it. There is an $8 fee if they are reissuing a driver's license, but no additional fee for the Veteran designation. This applies to photo ID cards as well.
To qualify, applicants must bring in a DD-214 military service record that indicates a discharge of "honorable," "general, or "general under honorable conditions," or a letter from the Kansas Veteran's Commission.
This veteran designation is available starting Tuesday.
