Wind is the main weather story -- again -- on Thursday.
Wind gusts could be around 45 mph Thursday, and for the second straight day several wind advisories are in effect. Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties are affected until 3 pm.
Chase and Greenwood counties, meanwhile, are in a red flag warning until 6 pm, signaling high winds, low humidity levels and extremely dry vegetation.
Winds were extremely high across the area Wednesday.
Chase County had the highest recorded wind gusts in our area -- 53 mph just east of Matfield Green and 50 mph just north of the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.
Wind gusts approached 50 mph in Lyon County, with the county's peak wind gust 49 mph at the Municipal Airport. The KVOE studios had a peak gust of 46 mph, with the Admire area reporting a 45 mph gust and Melvern a 40 mph gust.
