City Commission to be busy in action session Wednesday

Emporia city commissioners have a busy consent agenda and several items of note on their regular agenda when they have their action meeting this week.

During the consent agenda, commissioners may approve an agreement with Development Strategies to conduct a market study for a potential retail development at 24th and Industrial. A development group led by Kansas City attorney Spencer Thomson is paying for the study as it tries to bring a home improvement and grocery store to the intersection.

Also, commissioners may approve an interlocal agreement to consolidate the city dispatch department with that of Lyon County under county jurisdiction.

During the regular agenda, commissioners ay award separate bids for the annual slurry seal project and a street sweeper. They may also alter the taxi cab application code.

The meeting starts at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Municipal Court Room.
