The city is almost finished with a project re-lining the sanitary sewer lines.
The Instituform project as it's called should be finished by the end of this week.
Instituform is a Kansas City company tasked with putting a liner into the city sewer lines found to be in need of repair.
Underground Utilities Supervisor Gary Sadowski says video inspections revealed which lines were needing fixed. He explains the process:
This project started March 17; Sadowski said Instituform has moved very quickly. The lines that are in the worst shape get first priority. The next lines to be repaired are in the areas of the Merchant Street underpass, 6th and Congress, and 15th and Thompson.
Sadowski said they try to keep traffic open while crews work on the sewer lines, but drivers should pay attention regardless, and give them room to work.
