Folks interested in applying for Emporia's next Habitat for Humanity home need to do so by Friday.
Applications are available in English and Spanish at Modern Air, 106 Commercial. Group board member Jim Kessler, a guest on KVOE's Morning Show on Tuesday, says Habitat members are more than happy to help people work through the application before the selection process begins soon.
Kessler also asked residents to encourage others they know who may qualify based on income guidelines to step forward and apply.
Construction should begin in the next few weeks. Kessler says the selection process is also coming quickly.
The foundation could be laid next month, with work possibly continuing into early next year. Kessler says Habitat homes help to spruce up different neighborhoods, fostering a sense of pride both for the new homeowners and for their neighbors.
