Local homes showcased for Hand in Hand Hospice

Hand in Hand Hospice's annual homes tour brought a parade of people through four local homes Sunday.

This year's homes on the tour included:

*Mary Stauffer, 2001 Lincoln
*Paul and Debbie Challender, 305 W. 18th
*Steve and Bobbi Sauder, 1966 Morningside
*Patrick and Marjorie Werly, 1124 Oxford

Andrea Elwood of Hand in Hand Hospice says the funding directly helps hospice patients. She says it's an event that's become quite popular.

One of the folks on the tour was Steve Hughes, the son of banker Oliver Hughes, who originally built the home at 1966 Morningside. He told the story of growing up there, how he helped build the house, and he was happy to see the modern version.

The tour raised about $2,000 -- double last year's amount.

Also, Doug Unruh of Emporia won the blue and white diamond pendant from Kari's Diamonds, worth $575.
