Melvern man receives 25 years to life for child rape

A Melvern man may spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted for child sex abuse.

Osage County Attorney Brandon Jones says 38-year-old Ronald Hartpence, Jr., was sentenced Monday to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years. Hartpence pleaded to rape of a child under age 14 back in April for crimes allegedly from September 2011 until around Thanksgiving last year.

The case falls under Jessica's Law and as such also requires Hartpence to register for the rest of his life as a sex offender.
