Plans are now in place for Emporia's Fourth of July fireworks show.
The plan is to have the show on the holiday unless there is bad weather, in which case it would move to July 5. Parking will be allowed in several spots on campus, including around Welch Stadium and the HPER Building, and viewing will also be allowed in several on-campus locations like near the Student Recreation Center and Welch Stadium.
Alcoholic beverages will not be allowed on campus.
The fireworks display will once again be touched off by the Flint Hills Optimists. It should begin shortly after 9:45 pm and may last 20 to 30 minutes.
Numerous local agencies are involved, including ESU, ESU Police and Safety, Emporia Police and Emporia firefighters and Lyon County Sheriff's Office. The city of Emporia, Lyon County and Lyon County Attorney's Office are paying for the show again this year.
