The Emporia teenager allegedly responsible for the Short Stop robbery and the Emporia High drug theft has been charged with both incidents.
Fifteen-year-old Arturo Palafox was charged with felony aggravated robbery, felony theft and felony burglary of a vehicle in the Short Stop robbery July 20 along with two counts of misdemeanor theft. Palafox was also charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft and criminal damage in the Emporia High theft case back in April.
Palafox's name was allowed to be released by Lyon County District Court. He had a short detention hearing Monday and now has a so-called initial hearing Aug. 12.
Emporia Police arrested Palafox last week and placed him in juvenile detention. Officers say they cleared over 15 theft-related incidents, including the Emporia High drug theft, during the Short Stop investigation.
