KDOT plans for site auction and bridge work in separate projects

The Kansas Department of Transportation is getting ready to auction off its shop site in west Emporia.

The auction is at 11 am Tuesday as KDOT looks to consolidate its local operations near the intersection of U.S. Highway 50, 12th Avenue and Graphic Arts at the Kansas Turnpike property nearby.

A minimum bid has been set at $322,500. For information, call the KDOT Bureau of Right of Way at 877-461-6817.

Meanwhile, KDOT has approved a $1.27 million bid from Bettis Asphalt and Construction from Topeka. Work will take place on Interstate 35 over the Neosho River, officially about four miles east of the I-35 junction with Kansas Highway 99.

KDOT has not said when the project will start or when it might end.
