Emporia's two-part Konnecting LINK project now has both phases underway simultaneously.
Work has been ongoing along Sixth Avenue between Commercial and Constitution, with milling and overlay starting Monday and continuing all week. Traffic has been narrowed to one lane in each direction already this week, and that will happen again later when new asphalt is poured.
Meanwhile, milling has started on Commercial from the south city limits north to Kansas Avenue. City Engineer Jerry Menefee says this process should also wrap up by Friday, weather permitting.
Traffic will be guided through the work zone with the help of a pilot car until construction ends. Drivers can expect brief stoppages in that work zone this week.
