From ice buckets to firehoses.
KVOE is stepping up the local ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at 7 am Friday with the first-ever Fire Hose Challenge in front of the KVOE studios.
Emporia's Radio Stations owner Steve Sauder joined the KVOE Morning Show on Tuesday, saying the Emporia Fire Department will bring a truck to get everybody doused in short order. He's encouraging everybody to show up and be involved.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has "gone viral" in recent weeks as a fun way to draw attention to the devastating effects of ALS, which gradually destroys nerves and muscles while leaving the brain intact, and also to raise money for research into the disease. The ALS Foundation has raised over $15 million since July 29, largely because of the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The annual Walk to Defeat ALS is at 8:30 am Saturday at Jones Park. Registration starts at 8 am, with activities including a silent auction. For information, call Gary Ace at 342-9116.
