Thinking about "freezin' for a reason" in February? Then plan now to participate and raise money.
Polar Plunge organizers are encouraging entry by Dec. 10 and also early fundraising totals.
Spokesman John Koelsch was on KVOE's Morning Show recently with details, encouraging early registration. Those that do will be entered for drawings to win an iPod or $100 American Express or Coleman gift card with every $50 raised.
Koelsch says there is a greater emphasis on early fundraising this year, in part because local fundraising came up around $3,000 short of the $28,000 goal and the plunge has become a huge revenue stream for Kansas Special Olympics.
Polar Plunge 2014 will be Feb. 15 at Mouse Lake. Other activities, including a pancake feed beforehand and a lunch paired with a silent auction afterward, will be back on the schedule.
