The weather should not be all that spooky for Halloween activities Thursday afternoon and evening. And there are, as usual, a lot of activities planned.
"Boo in the Zoo" helps to kick off Halloween activities at the David Traylor Zoo from 4 to 5:30 pm. Zoo Director Lisa Keith says the animals seem to enjoy the event as much as the cowboys, cheerleaders, pirates and princesses do.
With the closure of Zoo Road in advance of upcoming additions, zoo staffers have decided not to hold any activities at the Zoo Education Center. The center's parking lot and the All Veterans Memorial parking lot be open to help alleviate the crush of people that typically attend. The Sertoma Club's "haunted train" will be part of the activities, and KVOE will broadcast from 3:30 to 5 pm.
Meanwhile, Flinthills Mall has its sixth annual Halloween at the Mall from 6 to 9 pm, with a haunted house, costume contest and other activities. Numerous churches and other organizations are having "trunk or treat" events as well.
