The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Government Matters Committee and the League of Women Voters have scheduled a Dialogues forum with Emporia School board members next week.
The forum at 6 pm Wednesday will be held at Mary Herbert. It's free and open to the public.
School boards across the state are waiting for the Kansas Supreme Court to rule on whether lawmakers failed their constitutional duty by not adhering to a court ruling mandating an additional $400-plus million to K-through-12 funding nearly a decade ago.
Dialogues used to be known as Eggs and Issues forums. They initially brought lawmakers and constituents together but have expanded over the past few years to include the Emporia School Board as well as Emporia city and Lyon County commissions. Until this year, they were strictly held in the winter months. Organizers wanted to expand the series and hold them when major issues or talking points arise.
