Deer-vehicle accidents still an issue for KVOE listening area

Deer are still thick in the KVOE listening area, and Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope reminds everyone to pay extra attention to the road.

October and November are prime months for deer to be in rut, and their movement increases during hours of dawn and dusk.

At least two accidents involving deer were reported early Monday morning. There were no injuries with either of those. According to Cope, there have been 143 vehicle-deer accidents in the last 12 months. For the period from October up to Nov. 15, there have been 32 accidents involving deer. Last year there were 34 accidents. For the month of November, that number is up 5 compared to last year's amount.
