Brownback honored to fight for religious freedom worldwide

Gov. Sam Brownback says he's honored to be nominated by President Trump to serve as an ambassador for international religious freedom.

Speaking to reporters in Topeka Thursday, Brownback got choked up when speaking about taking communion, yet remembering some Christians face death over the same simple act. He says religious freedom is a very important topic.

Brownback had long been speculated as Trump's choice for the ambassadorship. He still faces Senate confirmation before beginning his tenure. Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer will serve the remainder of Brownback's term.
