Chain-reaction wreck near Newton involves Burlington woman

A Burlington woman was involved in a three-vehicle crash that sent four people to a Newton hospital Sunday evening.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a car driven by 43-year-old Heather Nichols of Gypsum had stopped at US Highway 50 and Ridge Road three miles west of Newton shortly before 8 pm. Nichols was planning to turn left, but a car driven by 20-year-old Courtney Seever of Burlington hit a minivan driven by 64-year-old John Kraft of Rose Hill. Krafts minivan then rear-ended Nichols' car.

Seever was not hurt and neither was Kraft. However, Nichols and three passengers -- 39-year-old Larry Nichols, 36-year-old Sadee Nichols and 39-year-old Thomas Nichols, all of Gypsum -- were taken to Newton Medical Center for observation and possible treatment.
