K-31 in Coffey, Osage counties to see work

Drivers in Coffey and Osage counties will encounter a road resurfacing project this month.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced a 30-mile project beginning in Garnett and working north on Kansas Highway 31 to the junction with Interstate 35.

The project will involve a 2-inch mill and then a 1.5-inch asphalt overlay. Work should take about a month to complete, weather permitting.

A pilot car and flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Short delays are expected.

Shilling Construction of Manhattan won the project with a bid of $3 million.
