Former Emporia resident being sought by Wichita Police for link to 2012 murder Featured

Wichita Police are searching for a former Emporia resident charged in connection with a gruesome 2012 murder.


Rathanak Chea is charged with first-degree murder in the Aug. 4, 2012 death of Pheng Xiong in a central Wichita residence. According to Wichita and Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers, the victim was found dead inside the home with a cut to his throat. Investigators believe Chea has left the Wichita area and need the public's help in locating him. Chea is a 37-year-old Asian male with black hair, brown eyes, standing 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.

Chea is being featured on the Crime Stoppers Warrant Project for the month of May. Lyon County Crime Stoppers indicated on its Facebook page that Chea is a former resident of Emporia.
