Abate District 12 brought Motorcycle Awareness Month to Lyon County.

"Look Twice, Save A Life" signs were seen between Emporia and Olpe Saturday for a special Motorcycle Awareness Ride between the cities. Abate spokesperson Deb Fuller talked about their message.

Launching from Guion's Showcase parking lot, riders drove the ten miles to the Olpe Chicken House as a group to raise awareness of motorcycle presence. Abate District Representative Jerry Wenciker says dangerous situations arise every day on the road.

In the most recent statistics from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Kansas had 1,121 motorcycle accidents in 2016, with 52 fatalities.
