A ceremony is set for Wednesday evening to recognize law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

The annual Law Enforcement Memorial will be held at the William Lindsay White Civic Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. Emporia Police Department Sgt. Lisa Sage says the event is held as an important reminder of the sacrifices of those officers.

Sage says there will be music, an Honor Guard flag presentation, a reading of all the names of fallen officers in Kansas over the last decade, and a special surprise guest speaker. Sage says the event is open to the public and hopes that people take time remember officers who have passed.

If you can't make it to Wednesday's memorial, it will be carried in its entirety on KVOE 1400 AM/96.9 FM and KVOE.com, and also video streamed at KVOE.com.
