Phase 2 of work at Flint Hills Technical College's Welding Technology Center is underway.

On KVOE's Tech Talk this week, President Dr. Dean Hollenbeck said new construction will meet an ongoing need for space -- and meet the needs of future students at the same time.

Hollenbeck says this is an example of the steps businesses regionally are willing to take for students in the welding program, and the goal is to have that type of reception for all the college's graduates once they receive diplomas or certificates.

The $2 million facility at 3710 West Sixth opened to classes in August 2015 with state-of-the-art technology and opportunities for students to get immersed in different disciplines.
