ALMA -- Wabaunsee County deputies are still looking for the people responsible for recent house and outbuilding thefts in rural parts of the county. However, their investigation has taken a step forward.

Deputies say they have found one of two pickup trucks they think was the getaway vehicle, a silver GMC pickup that was apparently stolen out of Shawnee County and found Tuesday night by Topeka Police after a pursuit.

The occupants fled on foot and have not been found as of last word. Suspect descriptions are not currently available.

The second pickup allegedly involved, a blue Dodge Ram Quad Cab, has not been found. It has a black brush guard on the front, as well as black bumpers and grill, black rims and a black toolbox or fuel tank in the back.

Sheriff Rob Hoskins says the suspects may have a temporary tag on the pickup, although they have been stealing registration plates and changing them on a regular basis. The suspects are also considered as armed and dangerous.

Wabaunsee County residents who see the truck in this case or any suspicious activity are encouraged to call the Sheriff's Office at 785-765-3323.
