Lyon County commissioners continued their discussions on the 2019 budget during their action meeting Thursday.

County Controller Dan Williams tells KVOE News things still look promising for a slight decrease in the county's mill levy. He thanked department heads and allocation agency leaders for crafting feasible budgets for the year ahead.

The levy now is around 60.4 mills, down from the 60.8 mills funding the current-year budget.

The discussion also took a turn towards the longer-term future, with the county continuing its discussions on how sales taxes could be used to fund capital improvements or special requests from outside agencies.

The budget may be approved for publication by July 26. It has to be turned in to the state by Aug. 25.
