The Kentucky Headhunters are gearing up for their big concert as part of the Lyon County Fair on Thursday night.

Founding member Richard Young joined KVOE's Scott Hayes on Country 101.7 FM this week to look back at the band's lengthy career in music -- but he also looked ahead to the show tonight. He says it's the band's first appearance in Emporia, and band members are ready to play here.

The Headhunters started in the 1960s, influenced by rock acts like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and the Beatles, and began gaining international acclaim in the 1980s.

Tickets are $30 at the gate. Doors open at 5:30 pm, with the show set to start at 7 pm. The Steve Kile Band is opening. For more information, go online to www.lyoncountyfairks.org or call 342-5014.
