At long last, work on West 12th between Prairie and Grand is coming to an end.

Residents along that part of West 12th have been adjusting to the construction zone since work began in late June. Several unplanned water main breaks, both in and near the planned construction, have also lengthened the time for the overall project, but on KVOE's 8:05 am newscast Wednesday, City Engineer Jim Ubert said the project is almost done.

The work on West 12th is coming to an end as a host of other street and water projects get up to full speed:

*East Wilman Court has a 6-inch water line replacement project underway between 15th and 18th.
*A multifaceted water line and water tower project involves Industrial Park III for the 1-million-gallon water tower. It also involves new 16-inch water mains on parts of Kansas Avenue and Warren Way. Bidding on the water tower should happen within the next two months.

Other projects include:

*Street repairs on Merchant from South to 12th
*Street repairs on Industrial from US Highway 50 to 18th
*Street repairs on Commercial from Kansas Avenue north to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks. This also includes Merchant Street from 12th north to Interstate 35.
