A second person arrested in connection to an Aug. 3 chase from Emporia to Hartford has now been formally charged.

Ethan Peterson is charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and a charge of use/possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. He also faces one charge of interfering with a law enforcement officer. Peterson will make his first court appearance at 12:45 p.m. Monday.

An arrest affidavit obtained by KVOE News says Emporia Police and Lyon County Sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant Wednesday morning at 316 Exchange Street where Peterson had two warrants for his arrest. One was out of Coffey County, the other was for a parole violation in Lyon County. Peterson was arrested after detectives observed him run through the backyard of the residence.

A second search warrant was obtained for illegal narcotics and deputies seized more than 16 grams of methamphetamine, along with two cell phones and a duffle bag containing a digital scale, a small bag of marijuana and a small axe.

Officers also arrested 25-year-old Kayley Peterson and 43-year-old Jessi Cole. Both advised they were unaware of drugs inside the home and Kayley Peterson advised she was also unaware that Ethan Peterson was wanted.

Peterson had been wanted for several days after law enforcement pursued an SUV Aug. 3, eventually arresting 23-year-old Samantha Scheve. At the time, Emporia Police said an officer encountered a man later identified in court affidavits as possibly being Peterson in the 1800 block of Meadowlark. The officer struggled and the suspect got away, getting into the SUV before the chase developed. Authorities say the suspect got out of the SUV at some point during the chase.

A second person has been arrested in connection to last week's law enforcement chase from Emporia to Hartford.

Ethan Peterson, 23, was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of two counts of attempted flee and elude, according to the Lyon County Jail.

Peterson was wanted for several days after law enforcement pursued an SUV Aug. 3, eventually arresting 23-year-old Samantha Scheve. At the time, Emporia Police said an officer encountered a man later identified in court affidavits as possibly being Peterson in the 1800 block of Meadowlark. The officer struggled and the suspect reportedly got away, getting into the SUV before the chase developed. Authorities say the suspect got out of the SUV at some point during the chase.

Details about Peterson's arrest have not been released and formal charges are pending through the Lyon County Attorney's Office.
