The biggest fundraiser of the year is happening this weekend for the Emporia State University Department of Music.

The annual gala benefit concert is taking place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in ESU's Heath Recital Hall of Beach Music Hall. ESU Music Department Chair Alan Comstock says they're excited to have on hand some talented artists.

All proceeds from Saturday's concert go toward ESU music scholarships. This year's fundraising goal is $15,000. Tickets for the concert are $25, a real bargain says ESU Director of Bands Gary Ziek.

The ensemble will feature two soloists including Grammy award-winning soprano Esteli Gomez and baroque trumpet specialist Brian Shaw.

Tickets are available over the phone at 620-341-5431 or at the door on the evening of the event. Donations above the ticket price are welcome as a charitable contribution.
