A new sound system to help improve the quality and atmosphere of events in downtown Emporia will be the next major project for Emporia Main Street.

This was the announcement made during Main Street's annual Public Improvement Auction Thursday night at the Granada Theatre. Woods explained the numerous advantages the system will provide to the downtown Emporia area.

The project is a partnership between Emporia Main Street and the Emporia-based company Audio Lite. Audio Lite is an audio and light design company which works on numerous projects across the United States.

Audio Lite Sales and Project Manager Cody Maxfield believes being based in Emporia, makes them the best choice to head up the project.

The new system will be centered in the vicinity of the New Emporia Main Street location, however, the exact range of has yet to be determined as that is dependent on the ammount of funds available. Main Street's hope is for the sound system to span four blocks at least for a start.

Totals from the event will be announced at a later time.
