Buchele receiving Chamber's Lifetime Achievement Award Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce logo

The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its latest major honor in advance of its annual meeting later this month.

Ken Buchele, a longtime banking executive locally, was honored with the Chamber's Lifetime Achievement Award. A Cedar Vale native and Kansas State graduate, Buchele came to Emporia in 1972 and began his banking career at Citizens National Bank and Trust before moving to ESB Financial.

Buchele has served on numerous boards, committees and clubs. He and his wife, Marilyn, have also established two scholarships at ESU, one for veterans and one for international travel for students. In addition, Buchele served in the Peace Corps before coming to Emporia.

The formal announcement of Buchele's honor will come at the Chamber's 122nd Annual Meeting on Jan. 25. Other honors to be formally presented that night include Volunteer, of the Year, Committee of the Year and Business of the Year -- already announced as PT Associates. For more information or to reserve seats at $75 a person, call the Chamber at 342-1600.
