Further details have been released about a single-vehicle injury accident which occurred on the Kansas Turnpike Friday morning.

Emporia rescue crews and Lyon County deputies responded to the wreck, reported at mile marker 125 northbound shortly before 10:30 am.

According to a press release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office a 2009 Dodge Charger driven by 21-year-old Noah Lee Stephens, hometown not listed, was traveling northbound and was changing lanes when the car struck a northbound semi. The car then collided with the bridge railing and came to a stop.

Stephens and a passenger, 20-year-old Brianna Murphy, hometown not listed, were both wearing their seatbelts and declined transport to a hospital.

The crash temporarily blocked both northbound lanes with debris on a bridge.

 Minor injuries were reported after a crash just southwest of Emporia on the Kansas Turnpike on Friday

Emporia rescue crews and Lyon County deputies responded to the wreck, reported at mile marker 125 northbound shortly before 10:30 am. Emporia Fire says two patients declined transports to hospitals after the crash.

The crash temporarily blocked both northbound lanes with debris on a bridge. That has since been cleared.

Further details are pending through the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Authorities are working an injury crash on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia.


Law enforcement and rescue personnel were called to mile marker 125 northbound, or about two miles southwest of Emporia, shortly before 10:30 am. Early indications are one vehicle is involved. Early word on the number of patients is not available.
