The Flint Hills chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will be holding their annual banquet and auction Saturday.

The main goal of the foundation is preservation of wildlife and encouraging individuals to become involved in the outdoors. RMEF member Don Cook explains proceeds will be put towards several various conservation projects across Kansas.

Cook believes in order to preserve wildlife it is vital to help preserve the land they inhabit as well.

Cook says they have a wide selection of auction items up for bid Saturday evening. This includes a fishing trip that Cook says is a great time for the whole family.

According to Cook the annual event, while raising funds for numerous projects also allows the foundation to reach out to young outdoorsmen and women. Getting children involved in the outdoors is a major priority for the foundation as Cook feels it helps to build upstanding citizens for the future.

The banquet and auction will be taking place at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building. Doors open at 5 pm with dinner at 7 and the auction beginning at 8. For ticket information call 620-344-7541 or you can also purchase tickets at the door.
