The Flint Hills Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation annual banquet and auction was held on Saturday evening.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) was founded in 1984 with a mission to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife, their habitat, and the hunting heritage.

The event began at 5:00 pm at the Anderson Building, with a dinner at 7:00 pm. The multiple auctions provided a large variety of items from artwork to knife sets to fishing trips. Jordan Brown, the regional director of the RMEF for Kansas and Missouri, talks about what money raised will be funding.

Along with these projects, funds raised will be going towards land conservation projects, hunting heritage projects, funding grants for local youth wilderness projects, and college scholarships for wildlife biology or conservation majors.

Brown talks about why it's important to the RMEF to see kids take an interest in wildlife and wilderness.

Total funds raised from the banquet will be available on Wednesday. For more information on the RMEF, visit their website at https://www.rmef.org.
