7am Sunday: National Weather Service issues winter weather advisory, slippery road conditions expected through mid morning

After a short reprieve, Friday and Saturday winter weather has once again returned to the KVOE listening area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Lyon, Coffey, Osage, Morris and Wabaunsee Counties until 10 am Sunday. Freezing drizzle has been falling across the KVOE listening area for most of the morning which may create some issues for travelers.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Shawn Bern says residents can expect to see the precipitation conclude by mid-morning.

Snow accumulations of up to one inch are possible. Travelers should plan on slippery road conditions through this morning. Assistant Lyon County Engineer Jim Brull tells KVOE News crews are currently taking a wait and see approach before treating roadways.
