UPDATE: Identity released of victim discovered in Neosho Rapids structure fire Featured

The Lyon County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the individual discovered after a structure fire in Neosho Rapids Sunday. 

According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office the victim has been identified as 55-year-old Daniel H. Lambeth. Lambeth's body was discovered inside a residence at 719 Mulberry in Neosho Rapids after fire crews were called out to a structure fire shortly before 5 pm Sunday.

The house in question was listed as fully involved in flames by deputies in a press release Sunday evening. Once the fire was extinguished, Lambeth was discovered inside.

Lambeth was the owner of the residence.  

The official cause of death will not be released until autopsy results are finalized, which could take several days.

Other details including the cause of the fire and it's origination point are still pending. The investigation is being handled by both the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office.

10:30 pm Sunday: UPDATE: Body discovered in Neosho Rapids structure fire. 

Authorities discovered a body at the scene of a structure fire in Neosho Rapids Sunday.

Emporia and Hartford-Neosho Rapids responded to a call for a structure fire at a residence located at 719 Mulberry Street in Neosho Rapids at 4:45 pm Sunday. According to a press release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, after the fire was put out a victim was located deceased inside.  

The name of the deceased will not be released until proper identification is made.  Details such as the cause of the fire and its origin are still pending. 

The investigation is being handled by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office jointly.

6 pm Sunday: Details pending after structure fire in Neosho Rapids 

Details are sparse after a fire developed in Neosho Rapids Sunday evening.

Emporia and Hartford Neosho-Rapids responded to 719 Mulberry Street in Neosho-Rapids after a structure fire developed shortly before 5 pm. Details are still pending however, smoke was clearly visible coming from the back half of the home.
