The latest seminar in the Emporia High Parent Engagement Series is coming Monday night and will deal with the difficult topic of substance abuse.

Emporia High and Communities in Schools are encouraging parents of middle school and high school students to attend the seminar, which will feature information from Corner House counselor Autumn Irwin on signs, risk factors and available help in cases of alcohol, vaping and drugs. Communities in Schools Coordinator Lori Tubach:

Vaping will get special attention because of its rapid rise, especially among middle school and high school students. Tubach says this seminar will serve as a good way to establish and continue relationships with parents, especially with Communities in Schools starting at Emporia High earlier this year.

The seminar starts at 7 pm at the Emporia High library.
