Two nights sleeping in boxes have provided some Emporia State University students with some fresh perspectives on life.

Sleep in a Box brought students from the Didde Catholic Campus Center and other student groups to the church to raise money for the Emporia Rescue Mission. Senior Justin Broyles of Waverly was participating in his first Sleep in a Box. He says the worth experience was definitely worth the two nights in the cold.

All proceeds count towards the Rescue Mission's annual participation in the Feinstein Challenge fundraiser, which provides a dollar-for-dollar match up to $60,000 for operating expenses, both at the mission and Abundant Harvest. An anonymous donor is also matching dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000.

Students started Friday evening and continued until shortly before the Sunday morning Mass at the church. Totals are currently pending, but Broyles says students were well-received with donations of money, coffee and food as they continued.
